What is your inspiration behind this piece? How does it tie to the theme?
My husband and I connected over a song more than 40 years ago, which inspired me to paint “Carpe Serenade.” I often use animals and word play to engage viewers and tell stories. In this instance “carpe” (Latin for seize) is the goal of the musician; he hopes to seize the female’s attention, guiding her to make the most of the present musical moment to fall in love with him. They’ll both change because of a song.
