Reflected in Fragments
My process is always rooted in exploration, with intuition and emotion guiding the way. This piece began shortly after I completed a collage workshop, where I was struck by the parallels between collage and my woven artworks—both rooted in the act of deconstruction and reassembly. That theme of transformation runs through all my work: the cutting and tearing apart, the letting go, and the quiet emergence of something new.
I began with black India ink on watercolor paper to establish a foundation of movement and texture. From there, I layered a variety of hand-selected and hand-printed papers—some designed and printed by me—to build depth and rhythm. The collage process becomes both a meditation and a metaphor, reflecting how change often comes through disruption, yet leads to a more layered and honest whole.

What is your inspiration behind this piece? How does it tie to the theme?
This collage is an abstract self-portrait reflecting transformation through art. Fragmented forms, layered textures, and an emerging face suggest identity in motion. Like music or literature, visual art reveals unseen parts of ourselves—capturing not just who we are, but who we’re becoming.
